Delaware Juniors Volleyball Club was founded in 1982, by longtime University of Delaware Coach Barb Viera, to grow the sport of volleyball. Today the club continues its long tradition of providing excellent coaching by giving players the opportunity to learn and have fun while teaching them important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
The Philosophy of the Delaware Juniors’ Volleyball Club is to provide more opportunities in the Delaware area for youth athletes to develop a life-long love of and involvement in the sport of volleyball. We strive to provide a positive experience for all players who come to us. We motivate and instill a sense of self-esteem and confidence in our athletes by emphasizing skill development and setting realistic performance goals. Athletes will feel a sense of accomplishment, not measured by wins and losses, but by personal growth and achievement. Although winning is not the primary objective, we believe it will occur naturally as the players’ skills and confidence are nurtured and developed.
Our staff emphasizes the spirit of volleyball, which includes competition, camaraderie, cooperation, teamwork, and exceptional sportsmanship. We are firmly rooted in the belief that volleyball skills improve through playing the game; therefore, we strive to provide each athlete with playing opportunity.
